True belief in Jesus must lead to abiding in Him.
- Abiding in Jesus is growing in one's love for Him.
- Abiding in Jesus is growing in living His way.

Abiding in Jesus must lead to growing as a disciple of Jesus.
- Disciples want to learn the way of the Teacher.
- Reading, meditating on and applying God's Word.
- Worshipping with God's people.
- Building relationships with God's people.

Being a disciple of Jesus leads people to understand God's truth.
- The truth is that all things have been created by and for Jesus Christ.
- Every attitude and action should be carried out in a way that pleases Him.

God's truth produces enduring freedom in the lives of disciples.
- When we live in God's truth we can live free of fear, guilt and worry.

What were these people depending on?
- Their heritage
- Their understanding of reality
- Their opinions of themselves

Jesus tells them the lies they believe keep them from hearing God's truth.

The truth is ...
- Belivers become abiders.
- Abiders become disciples.
- Disciples become understanders.
- Understanders know freedom.
